White balance

A camera or image adjustment intended to make neutral objects appear neutral under the scene illumination.

White balance estimates how the light source colors a captured scene and adjusts channels to compensate. It can improve reference photographs, but it cannot recover clipped detail or reconstruct spectral information the camera never recorded.

What “Strong evidence” means

White balance corrects a captured image globally; it does not guarantee that every material color becomes physically accurate.
