Complementary colors
Colors positioned as opposites within a specified color system or chosen to produce strong contrast or neutralization.
There is no single context-free complement. Display complements, opponent-process pairs and practical pigment-neutralizing pairs are defined by different systems and can produce different answers.
What “Strong evidence” means
The core definition or effect is well established across authoritative standards, foundational research or a broad research literature. The label does not make every practical prediction certain.
